AUSTIN, Texas – UIndy football student-athletes
Aaron Barnett and
Ethan Hand were voted to the 2024 Academic All-America® Division II Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and announced Tuesday. The annual list recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Barnett becomes just the eighth Greyhound in history to become a three-time honoree, while Hand garnered his first such recognition. The latter was named to the second team while the former became just the third-ever Greyhound to earn three career first-team laurels.
A standout pass rusher for the Greyhounds, Barnett capped a remarkable career with his third straight All-GLVC First Team nod. The Veedersburg, Ind., native and team captain led the GLVC and ranked third in Super Region 3 in sacks. He racked up five tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and a sack in UIndy's playoff game at Grand Valley State.
Hand, meanwhile, earned a spot on the All-GLVC Second Team. The Lewis Center, Ohio product led the Hounds and ranked fifth in the GLVC (first among TEs) in touchdown receptions. Also a skilled blocker, he played in all 45 games since stepping onto campus in 2021. Together the pair helped UIndy to its fourth-ever 10-win regular season this fall, as well as a third consecutive playoff appearance and GLVC title.
