Hounds Place 11th in Bearcat Invitational

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The UIndy women's bowling team finished 11th in the field of 15 at the Bearcat Invitational, highlighted by a ranked win over No. 13 Wisconsin Whitewater. 

The Greyhounds placed two individuals in the top fourty, as Alyssa Cash and Emily Heldman finished 31st and 39th, respectively. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The weekend started with Baker match play, where UIndy was slated against three teams appearing in the NTCA Poll through the five head-to-head matches. The Hounds averaged 836.8 pins per match, with a high total of 944. 

The tough competition continued in traditional match play, where three of UIndy's four opponents rank inside the top-25. The highest total came in game five, where the Hounds put up 946 against No. 11 Sacred Heart. The team produced a 866.4 average through five games, paced by Cash's 179.8 and Heldman's 175 respective averages. 

Things began to heat up for the Hounds in Baker bracket play, where UIndy went 3-0 in head to head matchups. 

The ball got rolling with a 4-2 win over Southern University, highlighted with two 200+ pinfalls in games one and two. In game two, UIndy then secured a narrow 4-3 win against Western Illinois, edging the Leathernecks with a 182 in game seven. The Hounds then took down No. 13 Wisconsin Whitewater 4-1, with a resounding 215 total in game five to seal the win.

The Greyhounds will compete in the Division II invitational in Jeffersonville, Ky., next weekend, with competition beginning Friday, Nov 21
