INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's and women's track and field teams continue to make a statement as they competed in two different meets on Friday and Saturday. Most of the team traveled to Marion, Ind., to participate in Indiana Wesleyan's Wildcat Open on Friday. Meanwhile, a small group of student-athletes remained in Indianapolis to compete at the Midwest Classic held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Two program records fell at the Midwest Classic. Since the start of 2025, the Greyhounds have broken six records. On Saturday,
Josue Le Cadre secured his third within the last month in the men's mile run. Le Cadre ran 4:06.95, shaving 1.21 seconds off the previous record John Parson set in 2004. The sophomore battled his teammate
Felix Rivet during the race, battling out to the end. Rivet also passed the program record with a time of 4:07.79, but Le Cadre came out on top.
"The middle distance group has put together excellent blocks of training," said head coach
Brad Robinson. "It's exciting to see their hard work paying off with several school records broken this season."
Ellie Lengerich also broke a record this weekend at the Midwest Classic. Lengerich challenged herself by taking on the 600m, which isn't run at the NCAA Championships. The race featured the senior and three other runners from the University of Minnesota. Lengerich completed the race in 1:36.57, breaking the previous record that had stood for 15 years, held by Christina Carrick.
