Rivet, Le Cadre Brake More Program Records to Close Busy Weekend

CINCINNATI - The UIndy men's and women's track and field teams battled rainy conditions as they competed in two meets on Friday and Saturday. Some student-athletes headed north on Friday to Fort Wayne, Ind. to compete in the Indiana Tech Open. The squads' top performers competed on Saturday in the University of Cincinnati's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational.

OLIVER NIKOLOFF INVITATIONAL
Josue Le Cadre continues to cement his place in program history by setting a new school record in now five different events. Le Cadre now holds the record for both the indoor and outdoor 800m, alongside the indoor 600m and mile and the outdoor 1500m. The sophomore finished in 1:47.10 and won the event. The previous school record was 1:49.46 and was set back in May 2022 by Ben Nagel.

UIndy's key distance runner, Felix Rivet, captured his second school record of the season. Rivet, who broke the 3000m steeplechase record last weekend, took down the 5000m record with a time of 14:36.20. Alex Cushman set the previous record of 14:40.28 back in April 2016.

Jack Scoggins took three seconds off his previous personal best in the 400m hurdles at 54.50 to place second. Emily Sonderman took on the 400m dash and placed fifth in the event with a time of 56.41. Madison Schofield placed ninth in 100m dash after clocking 12.75.

In the field, Alex Meyer took fifth in the men's high jump after clearing 1.96 meters. Teammate Amarion Conyers tied for sixth in the event with 1.91 meters. In the long jump, Jorjia Ferguson (5.03m) took seventh on the women's side and Samuel Sommers (6.73m) took sixth in the men's competition.

INDIANA TECH OPEN
The women's field athletes had a successful day at the meet. Faith Hensel, Macie Swinehart, and Mackenzie VanBibber each won an event at Indiana Tech. Hesel earned her first-place finish in the shot put, with a career-best mark of 13.25 meters. Swinehart won the discus after reaching 41.42 meters. VanBibber was the sole Greyhound to compete in the women's pole vault. The junior reached an NCAA DII Provo mark and set a new personal best after clearing 3.85 meters.

Havanah Achilleos and Marina Agapios were the only runners from the women's squad to compete. Achilleos took on the 100m (13.37) and the 200m (28.17) dash. The Freshman set a new personal best and placed eighth in both events. Agapios grabbed a new PR of her own in the 800m. The fellow freshman completed the two laps in 2:53.92 and placed fourth.

On the men's side, Simeon McIntosh ran in the 3000m steeplechase for the first time in his collegiate career. McIntosh finished the race in 10:30.15 and placed second. Aiden DeLaTorre took on the 400m hurdles, completing the lap in 1:01.85 and placing fifth.

In men's field events, Dylan Mayhew placed second in two different throwing events on Friday. Mayhew started in the shot put with a mark of 14.97 meters. In the hammer throw, the junior reached 50.59 meters. In the pole vault, Keywuan Taylor captured fourth after clearing 4.35 meters.
