INDIANAPOLIS— For the first time in program history, the University of Indianapolis men's and women's track & field teams executed a sweep of the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championship titles. The Greyhounds used their home track to their advantage in the 26th annual conference championships, hosted at UIndy's Athletics and Recreation Center (ARC).
This year's conference title is just the second indoor title for the women's squad, whose first came in 2009. The men claimed their seventh indoor conference title and first since 2019.
The Hounds boasted 22 medalists across the two days of competition, highlighted by seven gold-medal performances. UIndy took two of the conference's major awards, with Amiah Rhodes being named the GLVC Freshman of the Year, while head coach Brad Robinson bringing home both men's and women's Coach of the Year awards.
One student-athlete from each team garnered the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award, with Mackenzie VanBibber and Matthew Stewart receiving the award for the Greyhounds.
The women's team took gold in both the throwing events, with junior Macie Swinehart taking the women's weight title and Vivian Osagie claiming the shot put crown. The reigning outdoor national champion in the long jump, Alex Meyer took the top spot in the event, setting a new indoor program record of 7.53. Francesca Maurino was the only woman to clear 1.71 in the high jump to claim victory. The men's distance medley relay of Felix Rivet, Lateef Mustafaa, Yanis Le Mouillour, and Josue Le Cadre brought home the gold in Saturday night's final event. Senior Hailey Orosz gave a spectacular performance in the women's mile with a time of 5:04.49. Le Cadre also came out victorious in the 800m with a time of 1:51.67.
