Men’s cross third at Parkside Invite, women seventh

SOMERS, Wis.- After not competing last weekend, the UIndy cross country teams were back in action Saturday at the annual UW-Parkside Invitational.  The men placed third among eight teams, while the women finished seventh of ten.

The Greyhound men accounted for two of the top 10 spots, led by Sam Bird.  Bird recorded a time of 26:18.7 to place third among the collegiate runners.  Ian O'Boyle finished seventh with an 8K time of 26:50.6.

Josh Gornall placed 21st, Chris Corsaro  finished 26th and Ben McMillan was 31st.

Stephanie Cave (pictured) was UIndy's fastest woman, navigating the 5K course in 19:43.2.  The time was good for 24th among the attached harriers and 29th overall.

Cave was followed closely by Sutton Knapp (19:44.2), who placed 26th.  Rounding out the scoring runners were Michelle Lewis at 35th, Kaitlin Boester at 37th and Courtney Raypole at 39th.

UW-Parkside's Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course will be home to the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships Saturday, Nov. 6.

UIndy's next race is scheduled for Oct. 22 when the teams compete at the Illini Open in Urbana-Champaign, Ill.
