URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill.- The Greyhound cross country teams competed at the annual Illini Open Friday, with the women placing fifth in the seven-field team and the men finishing fourth of five. It marked the final tune-up for the Hounds until the GLVC Championships in two weeks.
The first five Greyhound women placed between 21st and 30th, led by
Sutton Knapp's time of 19:17.
Stephanie Cave (23rd) ran the 5K course in 19:26.

Host and two-time defending champ Illinois tied fellow-Big-Ten squad Northwestern for the team championship. The next three teams in the standings were GLVC schools.
For the men,
Mark Martinez (11th overall, seventh among attached runners) and
Sam Bird (12th, 8th) combined for 15 points to lead the Greyhounds to 71 total points, good for fourth in the five-team field. Martinez crossed in the line in 25:54, a fraction of a second before Bird.
The remaining scorers for UIndy all placed in the top 25 among the attached runners, with
