INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) continued its awards week on Wednesday afternoon, announcing that 292 student-athletes earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney, FSC Distinguished Scholar award after posting a 4.0 grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year.
 
Named after Brother James Gaffney FSC, former President of Lewis University for over 27 years and two-term Chair of the GLVC Council of Presidents, the award is presented annually to student-athletes competing in GLVC-sponsored sports who achieve a 4.0 GPA during the course of the academic year.  
 
UIndy had the sixth most in the league with 23 across 12 different sports, with the women's track and field team tallying five.
 
Truman topped the list with 44 student-athletes earning 4.0 GPAs, while McKendree (34), Missouri S&T (28), Rockhurst (28), and Bellarmine (24) round out the top five. The 14 full-time member schools combined for 282 student-athletes, as four associate members totaled 10.
