INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) continued its awards week on Wednesday afternoon, announcing that 292 student-athletes earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney, FSC Distinguished Scholar award after posting a 4.0 grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year.

Named after Brother James Gaffney FSC, former President of Lewis University for over 27 years and two-term Chair of the GLVC Council of Presidents, the award is presented annually to student-athletes competing in GLVC-sponsored sports who achieve a 4.0 GPA during the course of the academic year. Â

UIndy had the sixth most in the league with 23 across 12 different sports, with the women's track and field team tallying five.

Truman topped the list with 44 student-athletes earning 4.0 GPAs, while McKendree (34), Missouri S&T (28), Rockhurst (28), and Bellarmine (24) round out the top five. The 14 full-time member schools combined for 282 student-athletes, as four associate members totaled 10.
