UIndy Greyhounds (3-1, 1-0) at Quincy Hawks (2-2, 0-1)Saturday, Oct. 4, 4 pm ET, Quincy, Ill.live stats | audio | game notes | videoON TAPThe Greyhounds return to conference play when they travel to western Illinois to battle the Quincy Hawks Saturday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. ET.
ABOUT QUINCYAfter winning two games all of last season, the Hawks carry an even 2-2 record into play this week. Quincy is coming off a 65-0 drumming of Haskell Indians Nation last week. The Homecoming win saw the Hawks rack up nine touchdowns while holding their opponents to just 58 total yards.
Sophomore Eric Poindexter accounted for a pair of TDs versus Haskell on the way to being named the GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week. The wideout/return man returned three punts for 102 yards, including a 47-yard return for a score. Poindexter also racked up four receptions for a career-high 93 yards and a touchdown. He ranks third in the GLVC at 34.0 yards per punt return, while the Hawks rank fourth in Division II overall.
The Hawks lead the GLVC in total defense (262.0 ypg) and passing defense (154.0) and are the only team in the league to allow fewer yards than UIndy (169.8) in the latter category. Offensively, their average of 30.2 points per game is good for third in the conference.
HOUNDS vs. HAWKSUIndy and Quincy have only met two times previously, both ending in lopsided wins for the Greyhounds. Last season, the Hounds and Hawks faced off in a week-10 match-up at Key Stadium, with UIndy coming out on top,
33-7. Quincy marched 79 yards on the game's opening drive but would not score again, as the Hounds limited their guests to just 212 total yards the rest of the way.
UIndy received a combined 216 rushing yards and three touchdowns from
Klay Fiechter (123 yds, 2 TD) and
Matt Ripp (93,1). In addition, Fiechter broke the school's all-time rushing record in the first quarter of that contest.
The teams' only other meeting resulted in a similar final score when UIndy downed Quincy,
35-7, at Flinn Stadium . UIndy had three touchdowns of at least 50 yards that day, including a 56-yard fumble return for a TD by
Koby Orris.

LAST WEEKUIndy outlasted a resilient Hillsdale team last Saturday to earn a hard-fought
24-19 region win. The Greyhounds led for the final 50 minutes of play but needed a defensive stand in the final two minutes to secure the win.
With just over a minute to go, UIndy stuffed the Chargers on 4th & 3 at the UIndy 12-yard line. Linebackers
Rob Dury and
Jake Grossnickle wrapped up a scrambling Mark LaPrairie on the final defensive play.
Meanwhile, junior
Reece Horn amassed seven catches for 94 yards and two TDs. QB
Connor Barthel finished 20-29 passing for 186 yards while also adding 40 yards rushing.
MILESTONE WATCHPlace kicker
Scott Miller is on the verge of breaking one of the most prestigious records in school history as his first good kick Saturday will make him UIndy's all-time leading scorer. The senior and Indianapolis native enters the week with 276 career points, tied for first in the UIndy annals with All-American running back/return man
Klay Fiechter (2010-13).
| Uindy's All-Time Leading Scorers | Years | Pts |
| 1 | Klay Fiechter | 2010-13 | 276 |
| Scott Miller | 2011-14 | 276 |
| 3 | Dick Nyers | 1952-55 | 272 |
| 4 | Nick Parker | 2002-05 | 247 |
Miller is already the school's career leader in extra points made and field goal percentage. He is also just three field goals shy of matching another UIndy career record.
RATE OF RETURNUIndy leads Division II in kickoff return average, thanks largely in part to the efforts of freshman
Tuwan Payton. The New Albany, Ind., native had another big return last week, taking the initial Hillsdale kickoff 62 yards the other way to set up the Hounds' first touchdown.
On just his second touch as a collegian, Payton raced 94 yards for a score in a week-one victory at Saginaw Valley State. Individually, Payton's 41.8 yards per return is second only to Mars Hill's Dimitri Holmes (51.2 ypr) of among all Division II players.
MAXIMUM PROTECTIONThe Greyhounds are one of only two teams in Division II that has yet to allow a sack this season (Lenoir-Rhyne being the other). Last season, the Hounds finished 13th in the nation in fewest sacks allowed, surrendering a total of just 11 sacks, or 0.92 per contest.
THE BIG 5-0Bob Bartolomeo garnered his 50th career win as a NCAA head coach last week. Thirty-six of those victories have come at UIndy, with his 33 wins from 2010-13 representing the most in program history over any four-year span.
TACKLING THE ISSUESLinebacker
Rob Dury is averaging 12.3 tackles per game, ranking second in the GLVC and 13th in D-II. The sophomore out of local Bishop Chatard High School has racked up double-digit totals in each of the last three games, including a career-high 15 stops at Saint Xavier in week two.
PAVEL BEING PAVELWith help from a season-long 63-yard boot versus Hillsdale last week, senior
Pavel Polochanin enters the week averaging 43.9 yards per punt, topping the GLVC. That average would put him eighth among all Division II punters, but he currently falls short of the minimum of 3.6 punts per game. Last season, Polochanin finished with a 40.1 yards-per-punt average, good for second in the conference.
POLL POSITIONFollowing the week-two loss at Saint Xavier, the Greyhounds snapped a streak of 18 consecutive appearances in the AFCA Division II Top 25 Poll. UIndy first broke into the weekly poll Nov. 5, 2012, and did not drop out until Sep. 15, 2014. However, the Hounds have received votes in each of the last three editions. See below for UIndy's AFCA poll history.

RV = receiving votesGLVC GIANTThe Hounds return to conference play this week having won their only GLVC contest this season – a
48-14 decision at Southwest Baptist. Voted as the preseason favorite to win a third consecutive GLVC title, UIndy is a perfect 16-0 in league play since the conference began sponsoring the sport in 2012.
Last year, UIndy finished 7-0 versus GLVC opponents, holding off a trio of contenders at 5-2; Missouri S&T, Saint Joseph's and GLVC-newcomer Truman State all finished tied for second. After a convincing 34-3 victory against S&T in the conference opener, the Hounds needed fourth-quarter scores to secure wins versus both SJC and Truman.
HOUNDS ON TVThis season, UIndy's home football games will be shown prominently on both local and natioanl television this season. The Hounds' first three home dates (9/27 vs. Hillsdale, 10/11 vs. McKendree and 10/25 vs. Lincoln) will be produced by
WebStream Sports and aired on WRTV 6.2 HTSN, the
RTV6 app and online at
theindychannel.com.

In addition, the Greyhounds and the GLVC will receive national attention Thursday, Oct. 30 as the match-up with in-state rival Saint Joseph's has been chosen as the
CBS Sports Network NCAA Division II Game of the Week.
