INDIANAPOLIS - To continue the impressive third season in program history, the UIndy women's lacrosse team has been ranked fourth in the initial Division II regional rankings that were released on Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA.Â
Currently ranked 12th in the country per the IWLCAÂ poll and 14th in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll, the Greyhounds are 11-3 this season, all within the Midwest region. The lone losses for the Hounds came at the hands of top-ranked Lindenwood, third-seeded Grand Valley State, and unranked Tiffin. UIndy got its vengeance, however, last weekend against Grand Valley State with a 18-16 thrilling home victory at Key Stadium.Â
The Greyhounds suffered a season-opening loss to Lindenwood, ranked second in the country according to the IWLCA. Regis, who UIndy defeated in its third game of the season, sits in second in the Midwest. Grand Valley State is ranked third in the region, while Lake Erie rounds out the top-five. Only three teams from each of the four regions advance to the NCAA tournament, which begins on Friday, May 11 at the region's top seed.Â
The Hounds have three road games remaining before the GLIAC tournament starts, beginning with Davenport this Sunday at 12 p.m.
