INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy sophomore
Halie Waters was named 2019's first GLVC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league officials Monday. The sophomore hurler earned a pair of wins last weekend and set a new career high in strikeouts in the Greyhounds' trip to Florida.
Waters' highlight came in her performance versus California (Pa.) Sunday when the Boonville, Ind., native fanned a personal-best 11 batters while allowing just three hits and one walk in six innings versus the Vulcans. She also earned a victory in relief against in-region Hillsdale on Saturday, fanning five and giving up one run over the final four frames.
Waters garners her first career GLVC Pitcher of the Week award. She is the first Greyhound to receive a weekly honor from the conference since slugger
Natalie Lalich in May of 2017 and first UIndy pitcher since
Morgan Foley in April of 2016.
