BAY CITY, Mich. – The No. 12 UIndy women's lacrosse team was unanimously selected to repeat as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champions for the 2019 season, the league announced on Friday.
Â
A year ago, the Greyhounds claimed the GLIAC tournament title with a 21-13 defeat of McKendree in the championship game.
Â
As teams cannot vote for itself, UIndy earned eight first-place votes from coaches in the nine-team league. Defending regular-season champions Grand Valley State received the other possible tally.
Â
The Hounds have 11 of 12 starters returning from a team that went 16-4 and advanced to the NCAA Midwest regional in just the program's third season. Junior
Riley McClure was named the program's first All-America recipient after earning GLIAC Defender of the Year honors, while reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year,
Lauryn Hardoy, also returns for her sophomore campaign.
Â
Head coach
James Delaney begins his season at the helm of the program. A former three-time USILA All-American for Seton Hill, Delaney was named the IWLCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year last season.
Â
UIndy begins its season tomorrow at Key Stadium against Findlay.
