INDIANAPOLIS - UIndy baseball junior hurler
Reid Werner earned GLVC Pitcher of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
It is the first time the Greenwood native has earned the weekly distinction, and also the first time since the 2016 season that a Greyhound pitcher has been recognized by the league.
Werner tossed a complete-game shutout in Friday's 10-0 UIndy win, allowing just two hits and one walk. The right hander punched out four to earn his third win of the season, while limiting the Drury offense to a mere .091 batting average.
The Greyhounds are back in action on Tuesday afternoon at Lewis. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Romeoville.
