INDIANAPOLIS – With three wins and two saves in five appearances last week, UIndy sophomore
Halie Waters was voted the GLVC Pitcher of the Week by league officials Monday. The announcement marks the second time this season Waters has earned the honor.
Â
After allowing just one run in a complete-game win at in-region Cedarville last Wednesday, Waters had a major say in the Greyhounds' pair of doubleheader sweeps versus conference opponents over the weekend. The Boonville, Ind., product recorded a win and a save versus both William Jewell and Rockurst, helping the Hounds up their overall win streak to nine.
Â
Friday's highlight against Jewell came in game two, as Waters twarted a furious comeback bid by the Cardinals, preserving an 11-10 win with a 1 1/3-inning save. The next day, she pitched all nine innings in a one-run win over Rockhurst before entering the circle again in game two and retiring all three batters she faced to seal the 8-6 victory.
Â
Waters now leads the GLVC in saves (5), while ranking second in both wins (17) and strikeouts (158).
