Softball Debuts at #2 in Initial Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy softball team earned the No. 2 spot in the season's first set of NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, released Wednesday. GLIAC-leader Grand Valley State snagged the top spot in the rankings, followed closely by the Greyhounds and defending-national-champion Southern Indiana (3rd).

When the full NCAA field is announced May 6, the region's top eight teams will be paired off into two double-elimination tournaments, held on campus sites May 9-11. The winners of two sub-brackets will advance to face off in a best-of-three Super Regional May 16-17 to determine the Midwest's representative at the 2019 NCAA Softball Championships, held in Denver on May 23-27.

Having qualified for each of the last 11 NCAA regionals, the Greyhounds boast the longest postseason streak in the Midwest. They captured two regional crowns in that span, winning the Midwest title in both 2009 and 2015.
