GRAND RAPIDS, Colo. - The UIndy women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2019 regular season over the weekend with a 26-2 victory at Ashland, finishing 16-1 and matching its program record for wins. The Greyhounds, who moved off the 12-line in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll for the first time this season last week, will head into postseason action as the No. 11 team in the country.
UIndy did move up to No. 7 in the U.S. Lacrosse Magazine/Nike poll on Monday, the highest ranking the team has ever received from either organization.
Grace Gunneson played in all 17 games for the Greyhounds, finishing with a program-record 93 points. The junior edged out
Destinie Katz, who has 92 points thus far this season, including 58 assists.
Peyton Romig has secured 196 draw controls already, while
Riley McClure has caused 43 turnovers and scooped up 45 ground balls. Freshman netminder
Cassidy King has allowed just 4.8 goals per game in over 763 minutes, while recording a .534 save percentage.
The Greyhounds will host the 2019 GLIAC Tournament this coming weekend, and will kick off the event with a semifinal contest between the Tuesday quarterfinal game of Concordia-St. Paul and Davenport.
