INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy softball team put a pair of pitchers on the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-Midwest Region Team, released Wednesday. Both sophomore
Halie Waters and junior
Lauren Honkomp garnered second-team accolades, as voted on by the region's sports information directors. In addition, Waters was named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region Second Team, as compiled by the region's coaches.
Â
Waters picked up her first all-region nod after leading the Great Lakes Valley Conference in wins (22), saves (5) and opposing batting average (.177) while ranking second in strikeouts (216). An All-GLVC First Team performer, Waters has racked up six shutouts on the season, including her first career no-hitter back on April 6.
Â
Honkomp became a two-time all-region honoree, earning second-team laurels for the second straight season. The Richmond, Ind., native owns a stellar 21-4 record in the circle after picking up a pair of wins at the GLVC Tournament last week. Already fifth in UIndy history in career victories, Honkomp ranks second in the league in wins and fifth in opposing batting average (.218). She was earlier voted to the All-GLVC Second Team by the league's coaches.
