BAY CITY, Mich. - Seventeen members of the 2019 UIndy women's lacrosse team were recognized on Friday morning as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic members, including seven on the Academic Excellence list. 

A total of 814 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition, including 390 on the all-academic team and 424 on the academic excellence list.

Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49, while Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. 

The seven Greyhounds who received Academic Excellence distinction are: Kylie Backus (Marketing), Cara Brown (Mechanical Engineering), Clare Difato (Mechanical Engineering/Physics), Lauren Granville (Criminal Justice), Grace Gunneson (Sport Management), Destinie Katz (Nursing), and Laura McKee (Biology). 

Gunneson and Katz each totaled 112 points this past spring, earning All-GLIAC First-Team honors. Katz was named the league's Attacker of the Year, as voted by the coaches. Difato and McKee finish their UIndy careers as three-time Academic Excellence recipients.

Ten other Greyhounds earned All-Academic team recognition, including: Hannah Burczyk (Exercise Science), Irene Carlquist (Sport Management), Genevieve Jablonski (History), Sarah Konecny (Psychology), Abigail Lagos (Exercise Science), Emily Meyer (Exercise Science), Hannah Reho (Mathematics), Peyton Romig (Exercise Science), Krista Temple (Biology), and Abby Wilmot (Criminal Justice). 

Jablonski is a three-time honoree, while Burczyk, Carlquist, Lagos, and Reho are each recognized on the All-Academic squad for the second time. Romig was named an All-GLIAC First-Team member back in May.
