Edwards Earns GLVC Weekly Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy student-athlete Erik Edwards received recognition from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Thursday, picking up GLVC Player of the Week accolades. On Tuesday, the senior golfer won his second individual title in as many fall events, sharing medalist honors at the Dan Salisbury Memorial in Springfield, Ill.

Edward carded back-to-back red numbers, finishing the 36-hole tournament at -8. His six-under 66 on Monday came one stroke shy of matching the school record for lowest 18-hole score relative to par.

In addition, he led the Greyhounds (272-283) to the team win. The UIndy quintet nearly tied a team record, as its opening-round team score nearly tied the program mark of 271, set back in 2009.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Edwards is averaging a stellar 69.8 strokes in four rounds this fall. He has now earned GLVC weekly honors on five occasions in his career.
