King, Romig Named GLVC Weekly Winners

INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy women's lacrosse athletes Peyton Romig and Cassidy King swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Players of the Week honors on Monday, the league announced after the Greyhounds knocked off No. 8 Florida Southern in the team's season opener.

Romig – the conference offensive honoree – netted the game-winner in double overtime on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Young Harris College. The junior scored four times against the Mocs, with three in the second half and overtime. Known especially for her skills as a draw specialist, the Carthage, N.Y., native won 11 in the circle, including the crucial one in double overtime to setup the win.

It is the first conference weekly award for the 2019 All-Region middie.

King claimed her third league honor on Monday (first with the GLVC), recording 10 saves against the eighth-ranked Mocs. The sophomore made six stops in the second half, limiting the high-powered attack to allow a Greyhound comeback. King also scooped up one ground ball during the win.

UIndy will make its home opener on Friday against Lee University at 3 p.m.
