INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy softball student-athlete Hallie Waters was named to the 2020 Academic All-District® 4 First Team, announced this week.  Selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Waters personifies the term student-athlete, as she is an all-conference and all-region performer on the field and a 3.99 student as a Biology major in the classroom. The Boonville, Ind., native ended the abbreviated 2020 season with a 19-inning scoreless streak on the way to a 1.10 ERA and an 8-2 record. An All-GLVC First Team and All-Midwest Region Second Team selection in 2019, she is one of only seven pitchers in school history with 40-plus career wins and 350-plus career strikeouts.
 
She is now eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, with those award winners being announced later this month. Waters was an Academic All-America® Second Team honoree last spring.
