UIndy Captures Ninth Straight GLVC All-Sports Trophy

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis has earned a record ninth-straight Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Sports Trophy, the league office announced on Monday. The Greyhounds totaled 217 points during the 2020-21 academic year, winning by a comfortable 45.5 points over second-place Lewis University.

The trophy is UIndy's 12th in program history, with wins in the 1978-79, 1994-95, and 2002-03 seasons, as well as the past nine dating back to 2011-12. The GLVC did not award the All-Sports Trophy in 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that suspended spring sports competition last year.

The GLVC All-Sports Trophy is presented to the institution that demonstrates the best all-around performance in the league's 24 sponsored sports. Points are allocated based on overall finish in the respective sport's Conference tournament and league standings. UIndy's nine consecutive All-Sports titles increases its own league record; the previous record of seven straight was held by Lewis from 1984-90.

Led by first-year Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Young, UIndy captured a league-high six GLVC titles this season to earn top points in football, men's lacrosse, softball, women's golf, women's lacrosse, and women's tennis. In addition, the UIndy men each finished runner-up in golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and outdoor track & field, while the women picked up second-place honors in swimming & diving.

The All-Sports Trophy was first instituted in the GLVC during the 1978-79 season and seven different institutions have claimed the award.
