UIndy Athletics Puts A Bow On A Stellar 2025

As the New Year approaches, the UIndy Athletes department had much to celebrate in 2025. A lofty Directors' Cup finish, multiple conference championships, academic excellence, and community service efforts all made the previous year a memorable one for the Greyhounds. Below are just some of the highlights from a fantastic last 12 months.
  • UIndy earned a fourth-place finish in the final 2024-25 Directors' Cup standings, good for the University's fifth consecutive top-five finish. UIndy is one of only three Division II schools in the nation with an active streak of 17 straight top-20 finishes in the Directors' Cup standings.
  • UIndy won an unprecedented 13th consecutive GLVC All-Sports Trophy with the help of four conference championships and two regular season division titles.
  • The Greyhounds racked up 11 Academic All-America nods in 2025, four GLVC Scholar Athletes of the Year and the male GLVC Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award winner in swimmer Cedric Buessing.
  • The Hounds compiled 10 individual/event national championships in 2025, matching the school record for most in a single calendar year.
  • Thirty-eight UIndy student-athletes combined for a lofty 90 All-America nods.
  • The Greyhounds' success in the NCAA postseason included a regional title and national semifinal appearance by women's lacrosse, two top-five finishes by swimming & diving, a national quarterfinal run by men's tennis, an NCAA Championships appearance by women's golf, and Super Regional berths by both baseball and softball.
  • UIndy's recently-completed semester netted the department's second-highest Directors' Cup points for the fall, with the men's soccer team earning an NCAA Tournament first-round win, the football squad hosting a second-round playoff game for the first time, and the volleyball team advancing to the Midwest Region final for the first time since 2012.
  • The Greyhounds continue to lead in the classroom as well, garnering a league-best 419 Academic All-GLVC honors in June while compiling an impressive combined cumulative GPA of 3.40 in the spring and a 3.39 this past fall. UIndy student-athletes also graduate at a 12-percent higher rate and have a 12.8-percent higher fall-to-fall retention rate than the general student population.
  • UIndy Athletics ranks sixth in Division II with 16 Team Impact matches since 2018, including six active matches.
