INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis women's lacrosse team has earned the No. 1 seed in the Great Lakes Valley Championship tournament after claiming the regular season title after posting an undefeated record.
The Hounds currently hold the No. 1 regional ranking as per the most recent NCAA Rankings released on Wednesday morning. The Hounds have a 16-1 overall record and have been on an 11-game win streak.
Offensively, the Greyhounds are led by
Abigail Lagos who has recently become the Greyhounds all time goal leader and single season goal leader having scored 81 goals this season in leading the Hounds. Lagos also leads the Hounds in assists with 23, while
Mackenzie Winn has also been a play maker for UIndy with 20 assists and 23 goals.
Defensively,
Peyton Romig has been a force in the circle with 203 draw controls and caused 18 turnovers. While
Mekayla Montgomery has taken 41 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers.
Cassidy King has led the Hounds in the goal with 49 saves and allowing just 38 goals.
The Hounds took the win in the conference tournament in the first GLVC Championship in the 2021 season. The same field from the past GLVC Championship returns this season with Seventh-ranked Lindenwood University (13-3, 6-1 GLVC) earned the No. 2 seed, while Rockhurst University (10-6, 5-2 GLVC) and McKendree University (8-8, 4-3 GLVC) will be seeded No. 3 and No. 4.
The Hounds receive hosting rights for the Tournament and will kick the championship off against the No. 4 seeded McKendree at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29 at Key Stadium.
