NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
UIndy is making their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance in search of the programs third NCAA tournament win. The Hounds made a semifinal appearance in 2019, the programs fourth year of existence, after picking up overtime wins in the first and second round. In 2021, they suffered a first round loss at Wingate.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS LENOIR RHYNE
The Hounds and Bears had their first ever meeting earlier this season in Week 1. At the time, UIndy was ranked No. 8 in the nation and Lenoir-Rhyne was No. 2. The Bears threatened late, tying the game with just under six minutes remaining, but UIndy responded with a pair of goals in the closing minutes to walk away with the 12-11 win.Â
Drew Billig paced the offense with six points off of two goals and four assists while
Ben Foster netted four goals and one assist.Â
Dougie Crawford led the defense with three caused turnovers while
Austin Barnett made 11 saves in net.
TAR HEEL STATE
The Hounds are no stranger to the state of North Carolina, posting a 3-6 record in the Tar Heel State. The program's first ever game and win was in North Carolina, a 12-9 win at Mars Hill in 2016.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Hounds dropped one spot to No. 8 in this week's USILA/Dynamic Coaches Poll. This marks the 19th consecutive week that the Hounds have been ranked in the Top 10 and the 50th straight week they've been nationally-ranked dating back to the 2019 preseason rankings. Lenoir-Rhyne stayed put at No. 5 this week, marking the seventh ranked opponent that the Hounds have faced this season.
