INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference continued its academic awards week Wednesday, announcing 581 student-athletes as recipients of the GLVC Brother James Gaffney, FSC Distinguished Scholar Award, with 51 Greyhounds among the honorees.

Named after Brother James Gaffney FSC, former President of Lewis University for over 27 years and two-term Chair of the GLVC Council of Presidents, the award is presented annually to student-athletes competing in GLVC-sponsored sports who achieve a 4.0 GPA during the course of the academic year. Â

UIndy's total of 51 represents its highest since the award's inception in 2017-18, surpassing its previous high of 47 set last year. The Hounds rank fourth in total honorees among GLVC schools, trailing third-place Rockhurst by just three. The Greyhound football team led the way with seven honorees, followed by six recipients from women's swimming & diving and four from women's tennis. Seven UIndy teams had three honorees apiece.
