INDIANAPOLIS – A day removed from
walking off the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers in a high-stakes regional contest, the University of Indianapolis baseball team appeared in the first NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings. The Greyhounds were one of the 10 Midwest teams to make the list. Â
This year, the first regional rankings included teams in alphabetical order only, with numerical rankings set to be included in next week's release. The top seven schools in the region will make the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament, which is set to be played between May 18-21 with the No. 1- and No. 2-seeded schools playing hosts.
The GLVC is heavily represented in the initial regional release, with Quincy, Illinois Springfield and Maryville making appearances alongside the Hounds.
The Greyhounds have 15 total NCAA tournament appearances, carrying an all-time record of 22-30 while claiming the regional crown in both 2000 and 2012. The Hounds have not made the dance since 2016.
UIndy has only two more series left in the regular season before postseason action begins. They travel the long trek to Rockhurst for a four-game set with the Hawks on Friday.
