#5 Hounds Prepare for GLVC Title Chase This Week at Key Stadium

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 5-ranked and top-seeded UIndy women's lacrosse team (15-2, 6-0 GLVC) will be looking to defend its GLVC title this week at Key Stadium as the Hounds will host the conference tournament on Friday and Sunday on campus.

The Greyhounds are preparing to battle fourth-seeded Missouri Western on Friday at 4 p.m. ET in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, No. 2-seeded Maryville and No. 3-seeded Rockhurst will play at 7 p.m. ET. From there, the winner of each contest will battle for the conference championship on Sunday at noon ET.

UIndy has won back-to-back GLVC titles and will be looking to claim the third total in program history since joining the conference in 2020.

Head coach Elaine Jones talks about what it will take to win another conference championship…
"When we lost Christina Sato to an injury a third of the way into our season, that left us with only one returning consistent offensive starter on the field from a year ago. As the season has progressed, we've worked diligently with our offense to integrate the new and older players and the strengths they both bring to the table. To win another conference title will be a challenge, but if the team plays together, trusts each other and the process, and is able to execute, we will find a way to win."

Jones talks about the balance of the team and the chemistry…
"We don't rely on 1-2 scorers or just one draw taker. We have worked very hard to make all our attackers threats and to develop different draw takers. Also, I did a variety of team bonding/team building exercises and special sessions with the team at the start of the season and periodically throughout the season to help team chemistry. These exercises gave the players the opportunity to interact with and learn more about each other off the field in a relaxed setting. Overall, the growth of our fundamentals and ability to play together with different combinations, as well as the continual development of our team chemistry has helped make us stronger."

Jones discusses the leadership of the captains and seniors so far this season…
"Our captains and seniors have been committed and dedicated all season. Their leadership and belief in our vision, continuous development, and goals has been unwavering. They have done a great job of leading by example, putting in the work on a daily basis, challenging their teammates to do the same, and really showing the underclassmen the mental and physical steps you need to take to become a national champion."
