INDIANAPOLIS — The UIndy softball team remains in the No. 1 spot in the final NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings of the regular season, released Wednesday. G-MAC contenders Trevecca and Ohio Dominican came in second and third, respectively, while GLVC-rival Lewis is at No. 4.
Â
When the full NCAA field is announced May 6, the region's top eight teams will be paired off into two double-elimination tournaments, held on campus sites May 9-11. The winners of two sub-brackets will advance to face off in a best-of-three Super Regional May 14-15 to determine the Midwest's representative at the 2024Â NCAA DII Softball Championships, held in Longwood, Fla., on May 19-25.
Â
Having qualified for each of the last 15 NCAA regionals, the Greyhounds boast the longest active postseason streak in the Midwest. They captured two regional crowns in that span, winning the Midwest title in both 2009 and 2015, while adding Super Regional appearances in 2013, 2019, and 2023, as well as a regional final appearance in the unique bracket in 2021.
UIndy enters the 2024 GLVC Championship Tournament this weekend in East Peoria, Ill., as the top seed and will face Maryville on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET at the EastSide Centre.
