INDIANAPOLIS – For the sixth straight postseason, the UIndy women's lacrosse team is dancing into the NCAA Tournament.
Â
The Greyhounds, currently
ranked 10th in the most recent IWLCA national poll after finishing the regular season with a 14-5 record and their fourth consecutive GLVC title, earned the No. 4 seed in the DII Midwest Regional on Sunday evening. UIndy will face top-seeded Maryville in one of two region semifinals on Thursday to take place in St. Louis. Game times will be determined later this week.
Â
The Hounds recently defeated the Saints in the GLVC title game on their home field,
17-10.
Â
In addition to the team's sixth straight NCAA tournament appearance, first-year head coach
Peyton Romig has now been a part in five, including four as a player. She was named the
2022 Most Outstanding Player after leading the Greyhounds to their first national championship in the program's seventh season of existence.
Â
The other semifinal includes second-seeded Grand Valley and third-seeded Regis.
Â
Prior to the Hounds' sixth straight conference crown, defender
Amanda Hurry was voted the GLVC Freshman of the Year. Attacker
Megan Dunn and midfielder
Olivia Bladon joined Hurry on the first team. In total, eight Greyhounds earned 10 spots on the league's postseason lists, with Bladon and
Malaena Michielin each selected as a middie and draw specialist.
Â
Overall, UIndy is 5-4 all-time in the NCAA tournament. Last season, the Greyhounds fell in overtime to Grand Valley in the Midwest Region title game in Denver.
