Pentecost named to Academic All-America Second Team

AUSTIN, Texas - Zoe Pentecost of the University of Indianapolis women's track and field team was named Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators for the 2024 season. Named to the second team, this is the second time Pentecost was named to an Academic All-America Team.
 
To earn the award the student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and meet high athletic standards in their respective sport. Pentecost is studying to become a Physical Therapy Assistant and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.85.
 
The senior had a monumental season this past year. Pentecost became a national champion at the 2024 DII Indoor and Outdoor National Championships.
 
At the Indoor Championships in March, the Westfield, Ind. native won the weight throw with a mark of 20.47m. This was the first time a Greyhound became a national champion in the event in program history. After her win, Pentecost was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Midwest Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
 
At the Outdoor National Championships, the senior took home another national title, this time in the hammer throw.  With a mark of 61.39m Pentecost earned her fourth career All-American nod and second this season. She also grabbed an All-America title from the USTFCCCA for the outdoor season.
 
Pentecost also won the weight throw and hammer throw during the GLVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. At the conference Outdoor Championships, the senior demolished her own school and GLVC record in the event with a mark of 62.74m.
