LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its 2025 All-Midwest Region Softball Team Thursday, with three Greyhounds appearing on the list. Sophomore
Cara Cooper was named to the first team, while freshmen
Cheyenne Eads and
Brooklyn Willis earned second-team inclusion.
A major contributor at both shortstop and in the outfield this season, Cooper garnered all-region recognition at the utility spot. Heading into regional play, she ranked fourth in Division II with 21 doubles and is one two-bagger shy of breaking the school's single-season mark.
Eads has been a workhorse for the Hounds in the circle, topping the conference in wins and innings pitched while ranking second in strikeouts. Also voted the
GLVC Freshman of the Year, Eads tossed all 28 innings for the Hounds at the
GLVC Tournament, compiling four complete-game wins and a 1.25 ERA for the week.
Lastly, Willis is wrapping up a stellar rookie campaign at the plate. She paces the GLVC in both RBIs (53) and total bases (125) and leads the team in all three slash line numbers (.403/.471/.638). The freshman outfield hit .538 at the GLVC Tournament last week and hit the game-winning, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning in the
championship game.
The trio headlines a squad fresh off winning the GLVC title. The Greyhounds are currently competing at the NCAA DII Midwest Regional.
