Women's Basketball Soars Past William Jewell

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team earned its second win of the 2025-26 season on Thursday night against GLVC foe, William Jewell, 65-43.

This is now back-to-back home wins for the Greyhounds, the first time since 2023 that UIndy has won consecutive home games. The last two consecutive home wins for UIndy were against Missouri S&T and Southwest Baptist.

Amyrah Sapenter had a game-high 16 points tonight, one shy of her previous season-high, 17, which she managed to do against Walsh in the team's first home game of the season. Graycie Poe added another 13 points, while Ruby Garner added 10 points of her own, with three boards.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds came out swinging in the first quarter, jumping out to a 21-9 lead after 10 minutes. Efficient shooting built the Hounds its 12 point lead, led by Sapenter's perfect 3-of-3 shooting from downtown, and Graycie Poe's 3-of-3 shooting from the field, which combined for 15 of UIndy's 21 first quarter points.

UIndy maintained its 12 point lead headed into the break, after an even second quarter, but eventually took over in the second half.

Nine of the 11 players to play in the second half all etched their names into the box score, with seven points from Garner and Poe, while Halie Gilbert collected six of her own. But the defensive end is where the Greyhounds shined, compiling 11 second half steals, and turning those into buckets on the other end, going 12-for-24 (.500) from the field.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a game-high 28 point lead with one minute remaining, and clinched the team's second home win of the 2025-26 campaign.

- UIndy collected 25 points off turnovers, after William Jewell coughed the ball up 26 times.
- Jenna Guse scored the first four points of her career in the closing minutes of tonight's contest.

- The Greyhounds snagged a season-high 16 steals in tonight's game, including six players with at least two steals. It's the most steals in a game for UIndy since they had 18 against Oakland City in 2017.
