BALTIMORE— Fresh off a season-opening win over Northwood, the University of Indianapolis men's lacrosse team is receiving votes in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division II Coaches Poll.
The Greyhounds earned a 16-5 victory over the Northwood Timberwolves, led by Matt Pereira, who netted four goals, while Mitchell Carik scooped up seven of UIndy's 42 ground balls. Redshirt senior AJ Preachuk had a stellar opener between the pipes with 15 saves and a .750 save percentage, earning him his third career GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Adelphi still holds the top spot with 18 first-place votes. Behind the Panthers, the Tampa Spartans sit second in the poll, receiving two first-place votes.
The Great Lakes Valley Conference holds two top-20 spots, with Maryville sitting fifth and Lewis at tenth. After a two-goal loss to Colorado Mesa, Rockhurst has fallen out of the top-20 rankings.
The Hounds are also featured on theUSA Lacrosse Magazine's Top 20 list, joining conference opponents Maryville (5) and Lewis (7), coming in at 16th on the Week 1 list.
