Hounds Earn Spot in GLVC Championship Behind Gehrt's 11 Point Performance

INDIANAPOLIS – All-GLVC honoree Megan Gehrt exploded for a career-best 11 point performance on Friday afternoon, leading No. 1-seeded UIndy to a 23-6 win over the No. 4 seed, Missouri Western.

Today's 17 goal win is the largest margin of victory in a GLVC Tournament game since 2019, and the second largest in program history.

The Greyhounds are in search of their seventh conference title, including its fifth GLVC title. UIndy is the only GLVC champion besides Maryville to hoist the trophy since 2020, claiming four from 2021 to 2024.

Gehrt's 11 point outing included five goals and six assists, and cemented her name second in the record book for most points in a career game, joining Destinie Katz and Delaney Davidson as the only Greyhounds to record more than 11 points in a game.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds and Griffons faced off a week ago, and the Greyhounds picked up right where they left off, grabbing 16 first half goals, just three shy of its total from last Friday. UIndy had seven different goal scorers in the first half, including four first half goals from Gehrt, a hat trick from Olivia Bladon, and two goals each from Sage Da Silva, Malaena Michilein and Reese Fahlke.

Once again the Greyhounds were excellent in the draw circle, with Fahlke winning a career-high 14 draw controls of the team's 21 for the game. Her 14 draw controls are the most from a player not named Olivia Bladon or Peyton Romig since 2018 when Riley McClure had 15 against McKendree.

The top scoring defense in the country, UIndy, held its 14th opponent this year to single digit goals. The Greyhounds also scooped up 16 ground balls and eight caused turnovers to its name, which included three ground balls from Elle Cimini and eight players with a caused turnover. Ava Graham also had four saves in today's contest, bringing the program record in career saves up to 323.

INSIDE THE BOX
- UIndy went a perfect 15-for-15 on clears today, making it the fifth game this season with a perfect clear percentage.
- All-GLVC first-team member, Mariah Whitfield, had two ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover in today's semifinal.
- Margaret Galloway dished out two assists in the win, finding Michielin and Gehrt on the eighth and 16th goals of the day.

UP NEXT
UIndy and Maryville will face off for the fourth straight year in the GLVC title game, which is set for Sunday at 12 p.m. ET at Key Stadium. The Greyhounds mounted a five-goal comeback earlier this season, and will look for its third straight win over the Saints, dating back to last season.
