Softball Earn Top Seed, Hosting Duties For NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS - For the 18th consecutive season, the UIndy softball team will be among the 64-team field at the NCAA Division II Softball Championship. The Greyhounds (56-5) earned the top seed in the Midwest and will host the first of two Midwest Regionals this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 14-16.

The Greyhounds will open the regional on Thursday versus eight-seeded Tiffin. Also coming to the Circle City this week will be the four and five seeds in Saginaw Valley, the GLIAC champion, and GMAC runner-up Ashland. UIndy defeated both Tiffin and Ashland in early-season non-conference matchups.

All seven games of the regional will be streamed at NCAA.com. Tickets can be purchased in advance here. UIndy students/faculty/staff are FREE.
 
The other Midwest regional will be hosted by No. 2-seeded McKendree. The Bearcats will welcome GMAC-champ Findlay as well as a pair of fellow-GLVC teams in Missouri S&T and Rockhurst.
 
Both double-elimination Midwest Regionals will be played concurrently this week, with the winners facing off in a best-of-three showdown at the Midwest Super Regional May 21-22 for the right go to the NCAA DII Championships in the Chatanooga, Tenn., May 28-June 3.
