COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman phenom
Caitlin Bunte headlined the 2026 D2CCA All-Midwest Region Softball Team release Monday. The Quincy, Ill., native was voted the Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year by the region's college sports communicators. She was joined on the all-region first team by
Brooklyn Willis; while
Cheyenne Eads,
Shelby Cook and
Peyton Cusack were named to the second team.

Also the
GLVC Co-Pitcher of the Year, Bunte ranks in the top 10 in Division II in ERA, WHIP, pitching wins and strikeout-to-walk ratio. She earned a win and two saves in last week's Midwest Regional, helping lift the Greyhounds to a program-first fourth-straight appearance in the super regional.

Willis is having an historic sophomore season. A native of Shirley, Ind., she recently became UIndy's all-time single-season leader in home runs, with her current total of 21 dingers good for second among all DII hitters. She has also reset the program record for total bases in a season, ranking fourth in the nation at 170.

Eads, Cook and Cusack were also recognized Monday. A standout both in the circle and at the plate, Â Eads leads the nation in pitching wins and also set the DII record for times pitch by a pitch in a season. Meanwhile, Cook is currently tied for the UIndy record with 16 career triples, while Cusack is hitting an even .400 this spring.
Bunte, Willis and Eads were also named All-Midwest Region by the
National Fastpich Coaches Assocciation.
