ALBERTVILLE, Ala.—The UIndy softball team opens the 2022 season with a trip to the annual Charger Chillout, hosted this weekend by the University of Alabama Huntsville. Opening Day for the Greyhounds comes Saturday with a pair of in-region contests, starting with Kentucky Wesleyan at 11:30 a.m. ET. Live stats will be available for all games.
 
Ranked No. 12 in the NFCA Division II Preseason Poll and No. 1 in the GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll, UIndy welcomes back a number of talented student-athletes from last year's conference-championship roster. Six-time GLVC Coach of the Year Melissa Frost returns seven all-conference players, including reigning GLVC Player of the Year Gianni Iannantone and 2021 NFCA Division II Freshman of the Year Kenzee Smith.
 
Owner of the longest active postseason streak in the Midwest, UIndy is gunning for a 14th consecutive trip to the NCAA regionals. Last May saw the Hounds win a combined seven elimination games on the way to the GLVC Tournament crown and an appearance in the regional final.
