LACONIA, Ind. — Facing a small Midwest Region field at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate at Chariot Run Golf Club, the UIndy men's golf team secured a fifth-place finish.Â
Along with a fifth-place team finish,
Alexander Nestun posted a career-best individual finish with a T2 that ended one shot behind the eventual medalist Luke Metzger from Findlay. Nestun's previous best finish came the
2024 edition of the UIndy Fall Invitational where he finished 10th.

Nestun held a share of the 18-hole lead after a stellar round of 69 (-3) that saw him drain five birdies. He followed that up with round of 74 and 72, which kept him in contention late on Tuesday, as he held the lead headed to the final nine holes, one shot ahead of Metzger who eventually overtook the lead from Nestun with three birdies in his final six holes. Nestun finished top-5 in both par-3 and par-4 scoring this week, combining to shoot +2 on those holes.Â
Jackson Watkins and
Joseph Armfield also gathered a pair of top-25's this week, with Watkins finishing T20 (+8) and Armfield right behind at T22 (+10). Watkins' week was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 11th hole in round two, and an eagle on the par-5 18th in his final round. It's the first time this season Watkins has managed two eagles in the same tournament.Â
Drew Rowen and
Andrew Johnson rounded out the five-man lineup for UIndy, finishing T31 (+12) and T42 (+17), respectively.
Isac Fredriksson and Fredrik Ronnov also competed this week for UIndy as individuals. Fredriksson finished with a T34 (+13), while Ronnov in his return to the links posted a 52nd place finish at +38.Â

UP NEXT
UIndy will now head up I-65 for the annual Ken Partridge Invitational next weekend at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. The Greyhounds finished fifth at this event
last season after finishing
third the season prior.
