LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Led by Head Coach
Melissa Frost, the UIndy softball coaches were voted the Division II Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The honor marks the fourth time in the last decade that the Frost and Co. were named the region's top staff.

Elyse Petrie guided the 2021 Greyhounds to a stellar 46-8 record, including a
GLVC title and an appearance in the
Midwest Regional final. UIndy strung together 25 consecutive wins during one stretch – longest in DII this season – on the way to compiling the third-highest winning percentage in program history (.852).

Individually, the Greyhound roster featured eight all-conference players, four all-region performers and three All-Americans.
Hallie Waters was voted the both the
GLVC and
Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year while fellow-hurler Kenzie Smith was named the
NFCA DII Freshman of the Year. Senior first baseman
Gianni Iannantone was tabbed the
GLVC Player of the Year and later garnered
All-America Honorable Mention.
