Crossover season is officially in full swing Greyhounds and that means twice the action! Over the weekend the Greyhounds went 9-0 with a score differential of 281-138, safe to say that's pretty good. Read about all the fun the Hounds had here on Around the Pound, coming to you every Monday!
MEN'S BASKETBALL
The rankings continue to favor the Hounds, as they should, as men's basketball jumped up a few more spots to No. 7 in the rankings. That is coming off of a now 14 game win streak, and the Greyhounds surpassing 20 wins on the season. Since last Monday, UIndy welcomed the Truman State Bulldogs and the Quincy Hawks to Nicoson Hall, sending both teams home with losses to their names. Kendrick Tchoua was dominant against the Bulldogs, scoring 22 on an impressive 6-6 from the field and 10-12 from the line. Quincy was a Jesse Bingham show, with the redshirt-sophomore putting up 18 points to lead the Hounds to a 76-70 victory.
MEN'S LACROSSE
In their home opener against the Lake Erie Storm, the No. 8-ranked UIndy men's lacrosse team set the tone for their season, launching 39 shots on goal, with 21 of them hitting the back of the net. Triston Schaffer was the leading goal scorer for the Hounds, netting seven in the win. Drew Billig made history setting a new program record in points (13) and assists (9).
MEN'S TENNIS
No. 7 men's tennis started out their road season with a trip north to Michigan, defeating Grand Valley State 7-0 and Ferris State 4-0 over the weekend. The Hounds didn't lose a single match across Saturday and Sunday, not having a completed match go past two sets.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
The University of Indianapolis women's tennis team kept their season perfect, taking wins against Grand Valley State and Ferris State over the weekend. Singles was the dominance for the Greyhounds, going perfect over the two matches.
WRESTLING
For wrestling it was a busy weekend, hosting not only the Greyhound Duals but the Greyhound Open the next day. For the duals, the Greyhounds were a pinning machine, getting nine falls across the two matches, with majority of the rest of the matches ending in bonus point victories for the Hounds. Just a day later, Logan Bailey became the Greyhound Open Champion at 157, his second tournament victory of the season.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Elana Wells (22 points) and Idalis Ortiz (16 points) were the two leading scorers for the Greyhounds in their wins over the Bulldogs and Hawks. Despite a slow first quarter against the Bulldogs, the Hounds bounced back big in the second quarter, scoring 24 and only giving up 15. Against Quincy, a massive defensive third quarter where the Hounds limited the Hawks to only three points was the decider in the contest.
